Cover Reveal for His Muse by Kemmi Michaels

Author Bio:
I love a good love story. I reread the first kiss a few times before I read on...even in my own books. That moment gets me every time no matter how often I revisit that beautiful connection. I dive into every story to the point where I have so many fictional boyfriends that I can't keep track of them all.
In the world of reality, I have a loving and tolerant husband who smiles and rolls his eyes every time I tell him about my latest fictional love affair. I have two autistic pre-teen boys who keep me on my toes. I have a psychotic Golden Retriever (I was told those don't exist...) and a cat that rules our house. I used to be the queen. Our regal feline has usurped my throne and demoted me to Prime Minister.
I studied English/Journalism at Miami University in Ohio, have a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Dayton and I spent five years teaching even more personality-rich pre-teens. For some sick reason, I actually enjoyed teaching junior high. Now as a stay-at-home mom, I'm clinging to that status by throwing my hat in the author's ring and hoping I get to keep it there.
Synopsis:
On vacation in the tropical paradise of St. Lucia...
Martin and Abby never intended to meet anyone while they were away. Circumstance, however, pushes them together in spite of their expectations. With an entire vacation week with nothing to do but spend time together, Martin and Abby forge a connection unlike anything either had felt before. With Abby’s conservative nature and Martin’s refusal to be the player he had once been, the couple keeps themselves physically apart...until they can’t.
They collide into a friction that sparks a blazing need to stay together. Keeping the heat alive from opposite ends of the country, though, may prove too difficult. Distance and circumstance become very ugly words in this couple’s vocabulary.

Author bio:

Brittainy C. Cherry has been madly in love with words since the day she took her first breath--okay maybe not THAT long, but pretty darn close! She lives in Wisconsin with her loved ones and she adores a great romance. Her debut novel, The Space in Between, released August 9th, 2013 and she has many more stories in the works! Other hobbies she loves include: screenwriting, acting, dancing (poorly of course!). Coffee, chai tea, and wine are three staples that she believes everyone should invest in! It's also a known fact that whenever Brittainy is trying to write there is a fur baby or two begging for hugs and kisses--which she gives the spoiled animals of course!

Teaser/Excerpt:

When Kayden takes my hand, he pulls me up from my sob party for one and walks me over to the door. Placing my back against it, he takes my other hand into his. His proximity to my body is extreme and somewhat petrifying. The cold wood from the door touches the back of my neck, creating powerful shivers. He positions himself in front of me, his body demanding my attention. He’s at least six-foot-four, which makes me appear short at five-foot-eight. Is he going to kiss me? Because I’m not going to kiss him.  I don’t even know you!
“I’m not going to kiss you,” he explains.
Oh. My lips frown for a moment, but I hope he doesn’t notice.
“Well, not yet at least. Close your eyes.”
“Kayden, I understand you really want this job but let’s forget about it. It’s a stupid idea and it’s hardly a real acting job. How about an ‘IOU’? I promise you another audition for a great role and…” I argue all of the reasons why this actor shouldn’t be hovering over me, and I’m pretending to try to pull away. Truth is, I really want to pull him closer and have him press against my body, allowing him to slowly introduce his tongue to mine.  He raises an eyebrow towards me; I arch one back and sigh, closing my eyes.
His face presses against mine. The itchiness of his beard brushes against me as my hands fall to my sides. He places his hands on my shoulders, willing me to stay put.
“Stop comparing yourself to your sister.” His hand slides to my lower back, and before I have the power to go weak, he tightens his hold, pulling me closer to him. When I hear him mention my sister, I go to open my eyes but he stops me. “Keep them shut. You’re nothing like her. And she’s nothing like you. Forgot about all of the losers who didn’t know what type of treasure they let get away. They don’t exist anymore. No one on this planet does. It’s just you and me for these five days. There’s nothing to worry about. No commitment. No planning. Just us and our holiday.”
I can feel his lips mere millimeters away from mine as the words roll off of his tongue with such ease. For a minute, I forget we are standing in my office—er, my boss’s office—and that my mascara is still running down my cheeks. I forget we met five minutes ago when I offered to pay someone an obscene amount of money to be my made-up boyfriend. I forget who Richard, Danny, and Lisa are. All I want to do is find the taste of the man with his hands around my waist.
“I’m going to kiss you now,” he warns, edging his face closer to mine. “Unless you stop me.”
I don’t speak a word; I have no reason whatsoever to want to stop him.
When his lips find mine, I feel as if I’ve won the sexdorable lottery. His lips are soft, addicting, and gentle at first before the kiss grows deeper. I place my hands on his chest, stilling myself from tumbling over as his tongue slowly brushes against my lips. The way his rock-hard abs feel against my touch, makes me moan for more. My hips involuntarily rock in his direction, and he lifts me up against the door, kissing me harder, deeper, in a way that makes me feel as if we have been sharing these types of kisses for a lifetime. He allows my legs to wrap around his waist, and he holds me, making me feel so safe at his touch. His fingers stroke through my curly locks of hair, and when he pulls his mouth away from mine, I cannot help but miss his taste, his heat, his made-up passion. His eyes open to find my blues staring back at him, and he tilts my head, giving me one last kiss before I feel him smiling against my mouth. When my feet find the ground, my knees almost forget how to keep me standing, but Kayden’s hand is around my back, holding me, protecting me from falling.
“Well then…” I clear my throat once, “You are a fantastic actor,” I say, breathless and emotionally drugged up on Mr. Sexdorable.
He doesn’t step back, but I open my eyes to be flooded with his greens. He smirks a small amount and shrugs, “I figure if we’re going to do this then we should have our first kiss now instead of in front of your family. That would take away from the awkwardness of it all.”
“You didn’t even audition for the part yet.”
His tongue runs across his lips and he moves his hand through his dark hair. “I guess I jumped the gun.”
“The gun has been jumped.”
We’re still for quite a bit of time before I blink and realize that if this is happening then we have to hit the road before I come to my senses, wake up from this dream, or have a heart attack from how beautiful he is. I know guys don’t like being called beautiful, but he is.
So. Freaking. Beautiful.

“Why don’t we have a dance?” Alex said, “I’m tired of looking for a minute. She was the one who stormed out, if she wants to spend her time with that bastard then let her. This is our holiday too, we deserve some fun.”
“Hell, yeah! I’ll go get us some drinks.” Alyssa skipped to the bar and returned a few minutes later with three Chivas. The drink really took the edge off and it finally felt like we were having a good time again. As the song finished I noticed the guy with dreadlocks from yesterday approaching me with his arm outstretched. I didn’t want to seem rude, so I took it and allowed him to kiss my hand. He told us he was enjoying his night off and asked us if we were having a good time. When we said we were, he tried again to offer me his number. This guy really wasn’t getting the hint.
“Don’t throw it away this time, give me a call; I’ll make it worth your while.” He grinned at me, flashing all his front teeth. I pushed the paper away, refusing him politely. “Don’t try and tell me you have a man here, girl, I’ve only been seeing you with these two.” He pointed to my friends and thrust the paper in my hand again.
“Look, I have a boyfriend, but he’s not here. I said that to be polite. My man is at home, but I’m not interested okay?”
“Ah, what he don’t know won’t hurt him.” He leaned in towards me and put his hands on my waist.
As he did so, he caught sight of something behind me and his eyes grew wide. I turned to see Marcus glaring at the poor guy, “Get your hands off her this second or you won’t have any fingers left, you hear me?”
He immediately backed off, insisting that he didn’t mean any harm. I turned on my heel to face Marcus, angry that he’d interfered, “I don’t need your help Marcus, leave me alone. Where’s Naomi?”
“You didn’t seem to be doing such a good job defending yourself. Unless I got in the way of you getting some d…”
I shoved him away, cutting him off. I hated the guy so much, “Oh fuck off. What is it to you anyway? You’re nothing to me, you never will be. Answer the question, where’s Naomi? We’ve been looking everywhere for her.”
He stepped towards me again, this time his demeanor had changed. He seemed calmer and actually human. He brushed a finger across my cheek with a saddened look in his eye, “That’s not nice; I’ve been nothing but gallant to you today. I…I…”
Whatever he wanted to say, he didn’t manage to get out. He was looking at me like a long lost lover, and as much as I hated to admit it, it melted something inside me for a second. I caught myself and chastised my mind for letting him get to me. What are you playing at Leona? This man is evil; you know that, this is just one of his games. I pulled myself together and threw his hand away, “Get off me, Marcus. Where the hell is Naomi?”
“You heard the lady, get away from her,” a familiar voice sounded behind me. What the fuck? Nathaniel? What was he doing here?
I didn’t have time to think about it though, he slipped his hands around my waist as he continued, “I’ll give you one more second to remove your hands from my woman, before I remove them for you.”
They stared intensely into each other’s eyes as Naomi appeared from nowhere, looking confused at the three of us. She looked to Marcus first, then to me and finally, Nathaniel, then her expression changed. Oh my God, it’s finally hit her. Shit, today of all days, she’s noticed it. I hope she doesn’t think I’ve encouraged him. The only reason I never told her about this was because I didn’t want to hurt her. I couldn’t look her in the eye as she stood there looking at us all. Tears rolled down her cheeks and eventually the anger caught up with her.
“What the fuck are you doing Marcus? Why do you have your hands all over Leona?” He dropped them to his sides instantly and it was only then that I realized he probably hadn’t even seen her standing there. She was stood slightly behind him and he was so wrapped up in his staring contest with Nate that he’d completely missed her.
“I was just consoling her, my love. There was a guy bothering Leona and I got rid of him. Lover boy here is just mad because he failed to take care of business himself.”
He stepped away from me and went to stand behind Naomi, placing his hands around her waist. “You know I’d do anything to protect you and your friends.” He kissed her and grinned maliciously at Nathaniel behind her back.
Nathaniel took a step forward with clenched fists and I could tell by the look in his eyes that he was ready to go all rogue cop on him. I didn’t want things to escalate any further so I pleaded with him to let it go, but he wouldn’t have it. In that moment, he needed to set Marcus straight.
Marcus knew what was coming and it was as if he had been waiting for this moment for a long time, he pushed Naomi aside and told her to stay out of his fucking way. She looked at me and started yelling, “This is all your fault, you’d better control your little baby boy Leona, because if he hurts my man I swear to god I’ll kill him.” While a part of me was shocked to hear her say it, another part wasn’t, and to be honest at that point, nothing that Naomi said or did surprised me much anymore.
Marcus clearly had her under his spell again, I mean he must have for her to believe that bogus explanation he gave her just a few minutes before.
Nathaniel lunged for Marcus but was caught around the chest by Joshua. I knew I wasn’t crazy. I did see him yesterday. “Now isn’t the time or the place for this Nate, stop it.”
Nate didn’t listen though; he barged forwards, taking his colleague with him. I couldn’t help but think how scarily strong he was when he wanted to be. It took Anthony and another man who I didn’t recognize to drag him away. Marcus grinned, knowing he’d got what he wanted. He took Naomi by the hand and walked away, taking care to whisper in my ear before he left. “Until next time, sexy. I can’t wait.”
“Go fuck yourself, Marcus.” I flipped him the finger and watched them walk off in disgust. I couldn’t believe this was happening, this holiday started off so well and now it was turning into the holiday from hell. I couldn’t wait to get home.

Logan West Interview!

I am so excited to have a chance to ask some personal questions to Mr. Logan West. The man that has me looking at single fathers in a completely new way. Thank you for giving me a few minutes of your time Logan.
Of course, anything for a pretty woman.
*Blushes* So I guess its true, you are a charmer.
Is that a question or a statement?
*with a soft giggle I clear my throat* How about I stick to my list of questions.
What ever you want sweetheart. *Small smirk*
Ok, before I lose all train of thought let’s start basic.
What’s your favorite board game to play with Oliver?
Battleship. That’s the first game I was determined to teach him. My brothers grew up playing it after school.
Great game. So what about books? We saw you have a pretty amazing library and like reading with Oliver so is there a favorite book you have?
Oliver’s favorite story that I enjoy reading with him is Treasure Island so that makes it my favorite book as well.
You have no idea how sexy that is. Or do you?
There are few things I enjoy as much as spending time with my son.
So are you an ebook kind of guy or good ole paperback?
An Ebook?
You know a Kindle or Nook?
*nodding head once* Ah, yes I prefer a real book in my hand. Julia got me one of those Kindle’s for Christmas though but its still in the box somewhere.
That was sweet of her.
*Shrugs* It was better than what Jax got me.
Which was?
I think I better keep this interview clean.
Come on, my page has no prudes. Spill.
Jax sent over a stripper gram. Male stripper gram I should clarify.
*Laughing* I hope Oliver wasn’t home.
No, Jax had the stripper sent to my office.
And what did you get him in return.
*grin forming* I think I’ll keep that to myself but I will say he was apologizing for the stripper.
It seems you have a strong bond with your brother.
Both of my brothers and I are extremely close. I’d do anything for them or Julia.
Another reason why we adore you.
Any more questions? I have plans with Cassandra tonight.
Actually speaking of Cassandra it’s obvious that she has played a role in you leaving your playboy days behind. What other “bad” habits has she convinced you to give up?
Cassandra has changed me in more ways than I can describe. She’s allowed me to see how perfect life can be, how much pleasure and comfort I was missing. We’re still learning more about each other so we’ll see if I give anything up anything but for her I’d give everything.
You really do love her. Sorry *clears throat* She’s lucky to have you. Alright back to the interview. If you could travel back to any one day that you spent with Cassandra, what day would you pick?
Easy, New Years. *with a frown* I don’t want to get into that night but I’d do a lot differently.
Understandable.
As for a more pleasant day I’d like to have been faster at getting down to my pool the night she decided to sneak a dip. I still dream of that night. Never in my life have I been teased like that. I was certain she’d be out there waiting for me to have my way with her as any other woman would have been and instead she had gone back home before I could catch her. I knew then she was a woman I needed to know better.
Did you consider going over and knocking on her door that night?
Considered? I damn near had to restrain myself from not doing so. I went back inside and took a cold shower but it did little to help.
Do you regret Cassandra catching you with other woman?
I was single. She was single as well so she could have been dating if she wished.
How would you have felt if you came by to visit her back then and she was entertaining a guy?
I’m not sure and luckily I won’t eve have to find out.
Meaning you see yourself settling down with Cassandra? Marriage and babies?
Meaning I won’t let another man touch her.
Gotcha. So I have to ask how has Oliver changed your perspective on life?
He slows me down and helps me appreciate the small things. He enjoys everything in life and through him I’m able to see more clearly.
Alright one more question I know a lot of us are dying to know. What is in store for you and Cassandra? Last we left you, things were pretty intense with Cassandra and Kurt’s run in. How will you be there for her after such an emotional and tragic experience?
Cassandra’s strong. She’ll get through this and I’ll be there for her every step of the way. Whatever she needs. As for Kurt the man has some pain headed his way. I’m making sure he spends years behind bar. I don’t want to see him on the street again.
I don’t blame you. I was so upset about Kurt hurting her. Well I better let you get back to Cassandra. Thank you for answering some questions for me and hopefully we will see a happily ever after for you and Cassandra.
Anytime, sweetheart. *turning to leave but looks back* Maybe next time you can ask Cassandra some questions. I wouldn’t mind finding out what she was thinking that night in my pool. *gives a wink and walks away*

Welcome!

Hello everyone! I'm Michelle and I love to read. Every since I learned to read, it has been a hobby of mine. Unfortunately the last few years I have not read as much as I would have liked. I work full time and am a full time Graduate student studying counseling, which involves more reading then I have time for, so reading a book for is a special treat for me. That's one of the reasons I've started blogging. I want to get back in to it all and this is a way that provides me with some accountability plus it just makes things more fun.

So what do I like to read? Well I'll try anything but if I'm begging for the first chapter to end, I'm not going to finish it. I love the classics, sci-fi, paranormal, romance (just not a big fan of insta-love), mysteries, plays, and poetry. I also love nerdy books, anything about psychology or neurology. I enjoy anthropology as well as Christian books (I love my God!).

Who are some of my favorite authors? Ayn Rand, Ray Bradbury, Chaucer, Oscar Wilde, John Steinbeck, and Stephen King.

Some of my favorite books are: East of Eden, We the Living, Faherneit 451, The Hunger Games, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Around the World in 90 Days, Carrie, Anthem, The Giver, The Importance of Being Ernest, The Canterbury Tales

What am I most excited about with starting this blog? As you can see, I read a lot of the older books. I respect the art and work that was put into these books. I'm excited to see what my generation of authors is going to offer this world.

Please email me at onceuponacrushbookblog@gmail.com if you have any recommendations or your an author looking for some promoting!

Thank you all for your support and look forward to this journey!
